Revolution of The Web
We are going
to be looking at the four generations of the web since the advent of the web.
WEB 1.0
Which is the
first generation of the web, which according to Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, it was
considered the read-only web and also as a system of cognition, the dream
behind creating the web was to create a common information space in which
people communicate by sharing information, it all began as an information place
for business to broadcast their information to people, the main goal of the
website was to publish the information for anyone at any time and establish an
online presence. The website was not interactive so the users could only visit
the sites without any impact or contribution and the linking structure were too
week. Web 1.0 was static and somewhat mono directional, the core protocol of
web 1.0 were HTTP, HTML, and CRL.
WEB 2.0
The second
generation of the web Was define by Dale Dougherty in 2004 as a read-write web,
which means reading as well as writing, the web could become bi-directional, web
2.0 could be seen as a medium of communication between the humans and the web,
it allow assembling and managing large global crowd with common interest in
social interaction, here the users have more interaction with less control, one
of the outstanding features of the web is to support collaboration and help
gather collective intelligence. The main technologies and services of web 2.0
were BIOGS, RSS, WIKIS, MASHUPS, and TAGS and so on.
WEB 3.0
The third
generation of the web was suggested by John Mark off of the New York Times in
2006. Said the basic idea of web 3.0 is to define structure data and link them
together for more effective discovery, automation, integration and reuse across
various application. Web 3.0 is a semantic web desires to decrease human’s task
and decisions and leave them to machines by providing machine-readable contents
on the web.
WEB 4.0
Is a web of integration, it is also known as
symbiotic web in which human mind and machines can interact in symbiosis, it is
a read-write-execution-concurrency web with intelligent interaction.
